HomeLight: Human Trafficking
According to the FBI, human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the 21st century – a 9 billion dollar industry. Los Angeles is one of the top points of entry into this country for victims of slavery and trafficking. The diverse community makes it easier to hide and move victims from place to place, making it very difficult for law enforcement to locate potential survivors.
Physical, mental, and emotional abuse can take a toll on a person’s psyche long after they escape harrowing conditions. Our professional mental health team conducts an in-depth assessment to determine an effective long term plan. Program staff provides referrals to a variety of services including legal, social, medical and housing advocacy to ensure transition into independent living.
