Guest Services

Since our inception in 1914, The Midnight Mission has been providing basic subsistence to the region's needy. This service is the cornerstone of our offerings. While bringing comfort and arresting trauma is the immediate goal, we have found that by supplying these much-needed services we actually start building the trust necessary to bring people into our life-changing programs and services.

  • Project Safe Sleep - emergency overnight lodging
  • Day Room - respite center
  • Hot Meals - 3 daily
  • Showers and Shaves
  • Clothing
  • Mail Service
  • Food Boxes
  • Referrals - housing, mental health and other vital services

Thanks to the generosity of our donors we offer these services to our guests at no charge. A person or family has to simply walk through our doors and ask. This operation also employs the men in our drug and alcohol program, many of whom were once in the service lines. This concept ensures that our guests are served with respect and empathy.

We also hold large-scale community service events on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and Easter Sunday where we serve traditional holiday meals and provide a taste of home for our guests. These volunteer driven events include entertainment, gifts and play areas for the children.

We also provide special outings and events for the children and families of Skid Row. These include a cookie decorating party and Christmas light tour during the Christmas season; an Easter Egg decorating party on Good Friday; and festive events on the Fourth of July, Halloween and other holidays. On the surface this may not seem like a "necessary" service, but for the child that is struggling to stay a child or the parent that is struggling just to provide the basics; these special events let them know that the community cares.
