We at The Midnight Mission believe that given a strong helping hand and tools for living, our participants are quite capable of pulling themselves out of homelessness and becoming contributing members of society.
To facilitate this process, we recently added an Employment Center. Our Career Counselor and Job Developer now guide participants through the three stages of the career development process - self-assessment, career exploration and job search - as well as provide training to ensure job readiness and retention.
Our services include one-on-one career counseling and assessment, as well as ten workshops each month. Participants learn firsthand how interests, skills, personality, and values relate to successful and satisfying careers. We help with the job search process, from resume-writing to interviewing and Internet job search.
The Job Developer builds collaborations with companies throughout Los Angeles, maximizing access to employment opportunities. He also consults with the Career Counselor to help steer our participants in directions where they are likely to find success. Relationships with local occupational centers and community colleges facilitate enrollment in a number of short-term training programs.
Bi-monthly panels of professionals representing fast-growing fields, provide participants with an insider look at potential careers.
Our job placement rate is proof of our success ... and concrete evidence that a second chance is available to all, no matter what their past. We have designed an aftercare program to help keep participants employed and if they need it change career directions.
